A new chapter in the life of Kopaonik’s most celebrated hotel

In the year when it celebrates 40 years of existence, the celebrated Grand Hotel will mark in the best way possible a jubilee that is equally important for Kopaonik and the Serbian tourism industry. Reflecting upon everything that the Grand has represented thus far and the values that have been created over the years, the new edition of the hotel will be emphasized through a newer, timeless style that is not subject to short-term trends.

The onset of modern tourism in Kopaonik is associated with the development of the Konaci tourist resort and the Karavan Hotel, today’s Grand Hotel, which has always been an inseparable part of this mountain as well as one of its synonyms that opened the doors for fashionable tourism. Built in the original “Kopaonik Architectural Style”, the Grand includes construction techniques adapted to climatic and landscape conditions and local folklore traditions. With a humane and pleasant ambiance that cultivates the values of traditionally warm hoteliering, the Grand has retained its authenticity and charm to this day. In recent times, the influence of MK Resort is reflected in everything that has made the Grand and Kopaonik a desirable holiday destination without equal. Significant investments that followed numerous initiatives and efforts to boost the development of this destination, particularly in the fields of summer and congress tourism, with the goal of keeping the mountain pulsating all year round, have had a desired effect. On this journey, the Grand Hotel has always been a leader and one of the key factors in development of the destination. This is why it is particularly important that in the year when it celebrates 40 years of existence, the Grand Hotel will get a new look and new amenities, thereby confirming its deserved supremacy on the most famous mountain in Serbia.

The team of architects and designers, led by Aleksandar Šavikin, has delivered a project that will be the pride of the entire destination. Their efforts have already shone at the end of 2020, when the Bacco fine dining restaurant was opened in the celebrated Grand Hotel. “Our main aspiration in creating the new interior was to find a balance between luxury five-star design and the desire to provide visitors with a cozy and warm space. We reflected upon everything that the Grand Hotel has represented thus far, and the values we created over the years, which we decided to emphasize and dress up in a newer, timeless style that is not subject to short-term trends”, said the renowned architect about the new look of the Grand Hotel in Kopaonik.

The capital investment worth 20 million euros will provide a completely new luxury atmosphere for the guests of this hotel that has a cult status. Works have been in progress intensively since April and include the reconstruction of all public spaces and facilities for guests. The recognizable reception area and the authenticity of the lobby bar, a favorite gathering spot for many generations, will get a complete makeover with ample attractive and innovative materials and details that we do not have the opportunity to see often in the region. The new attire will also include the restaurants, and when it comes to gastronomy, the opening of the first fine dining venue in Kopaonik last winter is just an overture to what guests can expect from the new restaurants and bars. The best local flavours will be uplifted with an innovative approach, and the latest culinary trends that celebrate healthy, high-quality ingredients and inspiring cuisine.

A particular emphasis has been placed on the spa segment; an eminent company responsible for some of the world’s leading alpine spa centers has been hired to lead its development. As part of the new spa concept, the world’s most famous brands in the field of spa cosmetics have been selected, in combination with natural local raw materials and manufacturers that produce original products in limited quantities, catering to the needs of luxury spa treatments. All this will position the Grand Hotel as a one-of-a-kind hotel destination where guests will be able to experience unique spa rituals inspired and created with a local twist. In addition, the plan will include the expansion of the outdoor pool, which will treat the guests to an even more enjoyable mood.

The modern underground parking, also a part of the larger reconstruction project, will resolve the issue of parking for all guests in a most efficient way. In addition, there will be parking spaces for electric vehicles. The new “Residences” section will exude exceptional luxury that will include a private spa center, car park, reception and all other facilities necessary for absolute comfort and VIP treatment of guests.

According to Radoš Đorđević, General Manager of MK Mountain Resort, traditional hospitality is one of the synonyms of Grand, which, in fusion with a refined and luxurious approach to the new needs of the guest, will be the main driver of change. “With this project, we aim to raise each segment “a star higher”, which will be presented to guests and the general public at the beginning of the next winter season, in December 2021,” said Radoš Đorđević.

In the year when it celebrates 40 years of existence, the Grand Hotel will mark in the best way possible a jubilee that is equally important for Kopaonik and the Serbian tourism industry. Just as the worldly charm intertwines with the “pulse” of the mountain, so will the cult status of Kopaonik’s hospitality be embraced by a refined and luxurious approach to the new needs of the guest, because the soul of this hotel has always been, and always will be, its guests and its legendary hosts.
